My Firefox desktop icons have suddenly had a dark blue outline - very unpleasant. How to fix?

Most of my Firefox desktop icons, for shortcuts, etc, have suddenly appeared with a very dark blue outline instead of just the fox holding the globe. This makes the screen look unpleasant. How can I return to the simple fox/globe icons?
