is there an extension for v.57 that enables the user to open a new tab adjacent to the current open tab?

I am another former Tab Mix Plus user, and I had grown accustomed to being able to open new tabs adjacent to current open ones. I tend to keep multiple tabs open, and really dislike it when new tabs open at the far right. None of the available add ons seem to address this issue. Does anyone know of a solution?

Please check out this new extension:

Open Tabs Next to Current by Sebastian Blask https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/open-tabs-next-to-current/

Does that have the features you need?

Please consider turning on send info to Mozilla before posting a question. This helps us help you.

This seems to work well if there is a Firefox 57 compatable Extension. Can use google search terms : Firefox Extension <old extension name> Comparable

Hey, I am also an avid fan of Tab Mix Plus. However, now with FF 57, I had to let go. The best replacement I found was TreeStyle Tabs. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it is amazing ! Now I feel that TabMixPlus was a solution to the simptom, not the problem. It made managing tabs easier by putting some logic into horizontal tabs. However, for power users, vertical tab bar with indentation is the real solution, as it represents EXACTLY the way we use the web.

In TMP, one enabled tabs to be opened next to the current one because they were related to it. With TST, tabs related to this one are indented under it, in it's own tree (group). And New tab (ctrl + T) from current tab goes right next to it, as it is a sibling.

I highly encourage you to give a try to TreeStyle Tabs. When doing so, try to disable the top bar, to get used the tree structure.
