Deskcut's are referred to my desktop address and not the actual URL! What's going on with this??

more options

I've tried like 3 different addons that allow me to create a desktop shortcut to access the page instantly.

I know that Firefox is undergoing allot of changes and like to have their end users use the pockets and all the other cool built in additions but I like the ability to create desktop shortcuts as this is what I'm used to doing. So what ever you guys did to the code I really wish you would correct this.

What happens when I create a "deskcut" is that the shortcut is created but when I double click on it I get something like this: file:///C:/Users/username/Desktop/dForce%20-%20Start%20Here%20-%20Daz%203D%20Forums.url rather than this: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/203081/dforce-start-here#global_properties

Thanks for taking a look at this! Richard McWolff

Chosen solution

Hi Richard, there is a problem that affects some Firefox 56 users where "internet shortcuts" are not handled normally by Windows.

More specifically, the problem is caused by having the Internet Shortcut (.url) file type associated with "Firefox" instead of "Internet Browser". It was noted when Firefox 56 was first released about a month ago because on some systems, the association got switched (for unclear reasons). You just need to change it back.

This is done in the Windows Control Panel related to Default Programs, and specifically, file type associations. I'm linking to a screenshot from Windows 7, which is the best I can do for comparison.
