I have a Toshiba Satellite C 55t-A laptop, which I bought new in 2014. I had not been able to use it since then because I messed it up installing some uncongruent programs, my system is a 64 bit and I installed 32 bit system programs, then I tried to fix it myself and made it worse. Today (Sept. 25 of 2017) I had it fixed by a Norton Security Associate technician over the internet. ( A few days before the Technician fixed it I installed the Firefox browser from the Toshiba Homepage because I don't like the Microsoft System!! and it seemed to be ok ) Now after the Technicians fixed it, it seems to be working fine, but now that I want to use the internet it's telling me to choose my Firefox browser homepage, because they have several to choose from..... And my Question is, if I choose the Standard homepage or which ever one that I choose, Will I be loosing my bookmarks that I have saved from before they fixed my Laptop ? Thank You very much in advance to anyone out there who knows an answer to my inquiry and kindly helps me with answer.

All settings are separate entries, so you can change things around any way you want.

Settings have nothing to do with bookmarks.

I installed the Firefox browser from the Toshiba Homepage

On rare occasions, there can be problems when the program did not come from Mozilla. Please keep this link handy; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

I choose the Standard homepage

Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar.

There are two settings;

  • When Firefox Starts

When the browser is started, what do you want to display? Many of us choose Show My Home Page.

  • Home Page

When a new page is opened, what do you want to be displayed?

  1. Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
  2. Use Bookmark
  3. Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla home page with tools.

You can use any of these that you wish;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any webpage or about: page you want.
