Since the latest update, Thunderbird seems a bit twitchy. It deletes messages next to the one I choose to delete. Is there a fix please?

Chosen solution

We have no bugs reported about this, and it is typically caused by defective or sticky mouse, or sticking keys. If it only happens with one of them, then it is more likely to be a device failure.

Thanks Wayne, As it happens I have been having a few problems with a sticky mouse button so will probably buy a replacement and see what happens. The other surprise I occasionally get is that when clicking on an email, it opens full size as it would if I double clicked so perhaps it is the mouse. Thanks.

Well, that's surprising. I bought a replacement mouse and the problem has disappeared! Thanks for your suggestion Wayne!

I have this problem, too. I switched to a wireless mouse, and the problem seemed to go away, but the original USB HP wired optical mouse seems to work fine with all other applications. Please look into your software to see if you can better eliminate possible switch bounce timing. Thanks

I disassembled and thoroughly cleaned the mouse in question. I then ran it through the "Passmark Keyboard Tester" software and the mouse tested OK. However, there were still intermittent multiple delete problems with Thunderbird email.

I would like to uninstall the program with the Microsoft Windows UNINSTALL program, and then do a RE-Install, just to make sure the program didn't turn flaky. I would like some reassurance that I will not loose my settings and email in doing so. Also, there is a Mozilla Maintenance program in the Uninstall list. Is that just for Firefox, or does that include Thunderbird? Can you recommend other Thunderbird Maintenance?

> Since the latest update, Thunderbird seems a bit twitchy. I would bet that wasn't trigger. But I would love to be proven wrong. So I think your next step is to go back to the prior version. But I have no way of knowing what version that is. You might check preferences > advanced > update > show update history

I have the same problem with all new Thunderbird versions of the last year.

It happens with all mice, not just one mouse. It happens with all my PC computers, not just one. It ONLY happens with Thunderbird, it does not happen with other brands of email programs.

EDIT: The problem is solved, just was bad mice, thunderbird was actually working properly afterall when trying a new mouse :).

I have the same problem, but switched to a logitech wireless mouse and this one seems to work OK; and does not delete multiple entries. Now all I have to do is keep changing batteries. :-(

Hello, yes it was a bad mouse, actually thunderbird was working fine, it was just a bad mouse.
