why does Firefox freeze almost immediately after executing?

Posted

Latest Firefox on XP invariably freezes within startup reporting 'Not Responding' in Task Manager & is excruciatingly slow overall. Have performed uninstall/reinstall several times as well as all recommended maintenance procedures I could find all to no avail.

[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Start Firefox in Safe Mode] {web link} by holding down the '''<Shift> ''(Mac=Options)''''' key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click '''Start In Safe Mode''' (not Refresh).
