How do I report a malware infection involving my browser to Mozilla Firefox?
I took photos of my screen and wanted to send them, however they're too large for the upload below. I even made them smaller and still no luck.
- 1 -- a virus window hijacked my browser. The virus displayed on the screen and i was not able to use the browser at all. It had Mozilla Firefox at the top and stated that i MUST call this number to fix it. I used a burner number and called. It was a male with a middle-eastern accent, who told me that he HAD to remote connect to my computer! I said no thanx and hung up! So i did a control alt delete and closed the window. I used microsoft edge to download the newest version of firefox and uninstalled the old version.
- 2 -- now there is a header at the top of my gmail page stating that my current firefox browser is not supported, with a link to download the new version. My firefox IS up-to-date b/c i just installed the newest version!
- 3 -- there is a popup at the bottom of my gmail page stating that it looks like i reinstalled firefox and do i want "them" to clean it up?!
- 4 -- when i launch firefox a popup for fireshot screen capture quickly opens and then disappears. It has never done that before!
- 5 -- in the toolbar, the firefox icon shows 2 windows open, however there is only one! When i right click it, the only tabs and windows showing up are the exact ones i have open. I've also minimized my current window and there is no other window open!
- 6 -- i updated my windows defender and ran 2 virus scans which found nothing. I am using an ASUS TP500L laptop with Windows 10 and Firefox 55.0.1 (64 bit).
I need to report this to Mozilla! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello. Sorry for the inconvenience. In response you can report the following incident to: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/legal/fraud-report/
In regards to your safety, are you all secured, or need any assistance with this?
Hi Zachary, thank u for the speedy response. I just sent a report.
No, i don't believe i'm secure. I still have this virus on my computer. I was thinking about taking it to Staples to have them run a deep virus scan on it since Defender didn't find it. I think they use Sophos.
Any other suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanx, Karen
ps-- i just tried to add the photo of the virus screen, but it was too large. It says...
