Firefox bug fixes get saved to download files, not installed as software upgrades/fix. There is no bona fide authentication it is Firefox fix and not hacking
All past software upgrades with other apps involve the actual installation of the needed fix as part of the download - to correct the existing code. But Firefox bug fixes do not appear to be installed, merely being saved to a download file, and nothing more. It makes me suspicious so have stopped responding to any Firefox notice of so-called needed upgrades/bug fixes in view of all the phishing, hacking, and identity theft where the crooks accurately mimic bona fide websites, trying get me to save their malware on my computer. Once saved, it does its job and I'm screwed. Yes, my Firefox is now running crappy with a lot of crashes. But I won't save anymore proposed Firefox "fixes" unless I know it actually comes from Firefox. Firefox needs to add an authentication routine to its bug fix notifications so I can be assured it is the real thing and not a hack. Otherwise, I need to find another browser.

You should be getting an updated app download from Google Play which installs over the existing install and does not leave any download file.
What version of Firefox are you using?
Interesting. Went to system search, looked at a bunch of files for the version # and found browsercomps.dll in Firefox files. It listed Version 45.9.0.6241. Have no clue if that's the correct Firefox version. Let me know if that's correct or what file I should be looking in. Also, I was surprised to see that FireFox is somehow connected to TOR. I have the TOR app, have played around with it, but it scares me to death when I finally realized what it is actually doing, or where and how. Is FireFox actually on the TOR network? Is that how FireFox can guarantee no hacking? Interesting.

Yes, but it lists my phones for compatibility. Nothing about my computer even though I put in Windows Version 7. Should I download it? Be patient, yer talking to an old gezzer who really isn't up to speed anymore on this electronic stuff and I have no kid available to keep me out of trouble.

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.
