Outlook for Mac 2016 has suddenly switched the default browser for attachments to Safari -- until yesterday, attachments opened in Firefox. How to correct this?

Hi there -- Firefox is set as my default browser and email attachments have always opened in Firefox. Yesterday, they started opening in Google Chrome. I deleted the Chrome application from my system hoping this would do the trick, but now the attachments are opening automatically in Safari. I cannot figure out how to change this (or indeed why Outlook made the change). Though there is a solution for Outlook for 2016, it is for a PC and not a Mac. Any help would be much appreciated.
