How and why did my iPhone 7 whole using Firefox redirect me to malicious pages and give me pop up ads saying my iPhone had a virus and ask me to download some fake iPhone antivirus garbage. I thought I phones and Firefox was pretty much immune to this sort of stuff. I mean if I clicked download for the pop up I'm sure it would of downloaded something that might of rooted my iPhone where they would have complete control via remote access.

I switched from Chrome after reading a few articles about Firefox being safer and more secure and I especially didn't expect this from an iPhone. The pop ups, asking me to download, redirects and even trying to send me to the app store happened twice in one week. The way I think I got rid of it was to clear all the data in ios firefox privacy settings.

Can anyone help to explain how I could prevent this from happening again?

Thank You,

David
