Why is XUL being deprecated if its Firefox's main asset, power-source and difference from other browsers?

more options

Taking https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2016/11/23/add-ons-in-2017/ as a representative sample of Firefox's community of users we can see 100% of negative reaction to the decision of deprecating XUL. So: is Mozilla reverting that decision? If not, why the hell not?

Also, none of those comments was answered by Mozilla, which is also a bit disrespectful, I think. Am I wrong here? Feedback seems to work one way only and not for the users' sake... :(

User's can provide feedback to Mozilla here: https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback

Sorry, your questions are not support related.

Thank you for the suggestion. But that feedback form also doesn't provide any expectation of receiving an answer. I know Mozilla is non-profit, etc., but it also states it's open, community-driven, and all that, and it's behaving as a closed, internally-driven institution with little concerns for users' preferences. Sure, like a company, it will suffer the effects of its bad decisions, but customers or users also suffer.

It's like doctors who forget to include the patients in the decision-making process, as if they were not the only ones affected by it.

Regarding the need of a support related question, I kind of agree but actually I don't. If support = need of help, then I need help and, if this is a community support forum (not official support), and I do need help from the whole community, then why in the world wouldn't my question be pertinent here?

See the Mozilla Support rules and guidelines policy on off-topic threads. The support requests need to be about Firefox itself and not its development. Developers don't lurk here therefore we cant answer them.

Also, the comments you leave at Input.Mozilla will be read by the Mozilla Advocacy team but please don't expect a response.

Going back to Firefox 39 - 40, Mozilla (July - Aug 2015), Mozilla started instituting a verification / signing requirement for extensions for Firefox. Huge negative response; large number of user "threats" to stop using Firefox; many users comments about how wrong that was. Guess what, since then Firefox market share has actually risen.

And although this forum is "staffed" primarily by volunteer suppoirt contributors, it is the official Firefox support forum.

I too feel a sense of "ownership" of Firefox, as I have been using that web browser since before is was even named Firefox. I started with Phoenix 0.3 in Aug 2002 and I was a support participant / contributor for 5 years in the mozillaZine fora - before Mozilla even started this official support forum in 2007.

If you want to commiserate your misery over the upcoming (and past) changes to Firefox with other Firefox users, you might want to look into the Firefox General forum over at mozillaZine. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=7

If this loss of XUL thing is a "non-starter" for you, SeaMonkey is what many Firefox users have already switched to as a result of Full Theme support having been made more difficult or impossible a few years ago. SeaMonkey support is available at mozillaZine, too. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=51 @ mozillaZine = Migrating from Firefox to SeaMonkey browser FAQ
