My friend Matt has been using the current version of Firefox for quite some time on his Windows 10 Pro desktop that's up to date, but a couple weeks ago he installed the current Chrome because he has to use it at work and decided to see if he could get it to work like he wanted at home. Anyway, he decided he couldn't get it to behave like he wanted and went back to Firefox being the default browser and uninstalled Chrome.

Off and on since then, youtube clips have no picture, just a black screen. Audio plays fine. If he switches to Edge and pastes the url into that, it works fine in Edge. Not consistent on when it will have no video though. I remember over the years this being a problem sometimes and having to just keep on trying different solutions until we hit on the right one.

I did google clean uninstall of chrome and found some directories and registry entries to delete, but it still has the no video problems sometimes. I also tried deleting the youtube cookies and un-checking the box in firefox for use hardware acceleration when available. Still the same problem. It will do a few youtube cips fine and then no video again.

I'm going to start trying all the suggestions for this I find searching soon, but from what I've found so far, all the posts are from 2008-2014 or earlier. Anything Windows 10 specific or current Firefox (51.0.1 32-bit) I should try before the older stuff?

hello, some people with the adblock plus addon have reported a similar behaviour. if this is the case please try disabling the extension once for testing purposes an/or try using alternatives like https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

That seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks.
