I'm trying to reinstall firefox on windows 7 home premium. When asked to run the program I'm told there is a virus and can go no further. Remedies?

What told you there is a virus? The computer or the program?

Some protection programs don't like the update/install stubs. Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Some AV programs don't like the installer stub. Try using the full off-line installer package.

McAfee is telling me there is a virus.

Cannot use the off-line installer, I still get the message about a virus.

Neither the stub installer or the full setup fro Windows from Mozilla are infected so McAfee is perhaps doing false positives, not the first time. Have you tried doing definition updates in McAfee to see if that fixes McAfee ?

What virus does McAfee claims Firefox installers from Mozilla has by the way?
