I am getting mad with this issue especially because it is quite a few months now ... . I have made a refresh of the whole firefox and afterwards I have tested each of the extensions installed to see if I could identify the cause (if any). I would rule out Adguard, Gmail notifier, noscript, profile switcher, Video Download Helper because I have no problem with them installed. As for the others (PrintEdit, Pin It, Show Parent Folder) I cannot be 100% sure because each of them, together with the previous one, was associated with a crash after opening gmail.

Problem description. Whenever I open the gmail page (either as a standalone page or in presence of 3 FF windows each with 8 tabs opened) the app crashes after some time (10" to 5', either leaving it opened or surfing through the messages). This problem started abruptly the last spring when I was still using the "official" firefox (now I am using firefox ESR because it is the only firefox still supported for my OSX 10.6.8).

Is there anyone I could submit my crash reports in order to have a feedback of what's going on?

Hi,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

If it's OK in Safe Mode, disable any theme or add-ons you have - Add-ons Manager (Cmd+Shift+A) > Appearance/Extensions, then re-enable them one by one until you find the culprit: Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems

If it's still crashing, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem. Thank you!

thanks for the hint. I already did it and it seems not to be the case. Meaning that there is some hidden conflict btwn some addons and gmail. I have removed most of them and adding one by one to see where the conflict is (see the list in my first post); still, today I have add the very same problem with the "5 basic addons". Here is the last 5 crashes. Not all of them start with bp-, therefore p:

thanks a lot in advance for your help

Update (sorry for the previous post. Just realized now that I wrote the wrong message in the wrong forum)

Gmail page seems either too heavy or incompatible when opened in presence of the four addons as above.
