Browsing the web, while another program is running is damn near impossible. It took me two minutes just to type this message.

Do you know how much RAM memory your Windows XP computer has ?

Do you mainly have trouble when other programs are running besides Firefox. If you have been having Crashes then if you paste into a reply the last two or three Crash IDs it may help. Visit about:crashes and look for the crash IDs that start with bp-

Obtaining Crash IDs

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

I have resolved the problem, downloaded and Installed "Opera" browser, transferred account info, and bookmarks, works perfectly, no crashes, no stalls, just speed. Much better browser, for those still having problems.

Firefox works well for most of us. A special clean reinstall may well have fixed your issues. You may have even been able to fix it in a few mouse clicks with a Firefox Refresh

Tried both of those suggestions numerous times before I ever Posted on here. I was always a fan of Netscape, and thought Firefox was the new version, but doesn't work as well as Netscape 9.0. Maybe a major rebuild of the product would do the trick, but don't think any one will invest in that. Thanks anyway.

NatSov01, You are going in to ancient history with Netscape. I would hope your Firefox would work after a Clean install. I somehow doubt Netscape is ever going to be revived, as anything more than a curiosity on legacy machines.

Using an alternative browser is clearly your preferred choice. There is nothing wrong with that and you have already obviously sorted out how to migrate your data. I will change the status of the thread form solved to unsolved because you have not yet managed to get Firefox working.

Netscape 9.0 is ancient as it was based on Firefox 2.0 released over ten years ago.
