After installing Thunderbird on a Mac I have the usual Thunderbird icon and an icon of a cd/dvd driver with Thunderbird image. It is listed as an alias when checking the file info, and pops up every time the Thunderbird icon is activated. When deleted Thunderbird no longer works. It behaves as if when opening Thunderbird it is accessing a remote file that is somehow involved with this other icon. What is going on and is this the typical mode of operation? I use Thunderbird on a Windows system and have never seen this behavior before!
Thank, Frank
