I have a problem with "Tab has crashed" and want to know if I should report it

Posted

Since 48.0 I have noticed a problem. I do have workarounds for myself, but want to know if you're interested because it may be a memory leak you are unaware of.

The reason I know of the bug is because I run firefox on linux and redirect to xwindows on my mac, and that's pretty rare I would think. Even with a new profile, open a web page in the first tab. Open a second tab and close the first tab and I get "Tab has crashed" because the system wants to open a new DISPLAY and it can't because after about 10 minutes xwindows won't let any more connections on that display. There's probably a setting for that, but I prefer it that way for security.

I'm now on 49.0.2 and still the bug is there.

Hi Fred, thanks for the reply.

I've never posted here before, what info would you like to have? I just checked and it said FF 49.0.1. I use XQuartz 2.7.9 on the mac, Linux kernel is 4.7.4.

The error I get is the "cannot open display" in the following output:

I've called others to look at this. P.S. Nice work.
