If you would like to email a page, you can use the Email Link button instead to open your default mail program.

I marked this solution as solved. But I was too quick to do so. My email link still doesn't open my mac application mail. I did set the mail app to open.

Firefox will just use the default mail application setup on your operating system. You will need to configure the default mail application on your Mac computer.
