Firefox always display is up to date when it isn't
I used to open the About Firefox dialog just to check if there is a new Firefox version released.
But lately the About Firefox dialog keeps telling me that it is up to date. Curiously I looked up google to find out the latest version of Firefox. It turns out I have been so far behind for the latest version (I was having 3x when the latest version was 4x).
I tried everything uninstalling Firefox then reinstalling it, Run as Administrator etc. It does nothing.
What could possibly went wrong with my Firefox? Please help me.

hi strike_noir, due to a third-party security software (websense) that is crashing firefox at startup, we currently only provide updates to users once we are sure they are not using websense. determining that is done with the help of a so called "hotfix addon" which should be applied for users in the background (which will not work when users have disabled automatic updates though). in case this didn't work, you can also install this hotfix addon manually in order to receive updates again: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/firefox-hotfix/
Still no automatic updates. Can anyone help?
could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

thanks, so far this is looking totally inconspicuous. could you do a search inside your firefox program folder (usually in c:\program files\mozilla firefox) for files ending in *.js and tell us what results are popping up there (filename + location)?

Something is causing this. But I don't know what.
I hope there is a way to find out what is causing this. A log message, error message, mozilla update server log, anything?
are you in a corporate environment that runs websense security software or might otherwise block auto-updates? other than that i'd be pretty clueless to why this may be happening as all your provided info looks fine...
