How do I create a shotcut for a web site on my home screen?
Can't get a page like facebook on a shortcut icon on my startup screen.

I think you mean in your Firefox startup screen and not the Windows desktop. Is that right? With that in mind...
You can add sites like Facebook to the Bookmarks Toolbar, which you can display above your home page, with your other toolbars. Alternately, you can replace your home page with another one.
If you are missing the Bookmarks Toolbar above your home page, you can turn that on as follows.
Use one of these methods to show the toolbar list and select the desired bars there:
- right-click a blank spot on the tab bar (or the "+" button)
- tap the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > View > Toolbars
- in Customize mode > Show/Hide Toolbars (see: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars)
To turn on the Bookmarks Toolbar, Menu Bar, or other bars, click it on the list. (To turn off, click again.)
And to bookmark sites: Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window. (These pictures are old -- drag the little "i-in-a-circle" icon instead of a globe icon.)
If you want a full page of link icons, maybe this:
You may have noticed that you can add sites from your bookmarks to your new tab page:
- Ctrl+t to launch the new tab page
- How to add your preferred sites: Customize your Firefox New Tab page
You can make your new tab page your home page if you like. Its internal address is about:newtab which may be handy to know for using the steps in either of these articles:
