Retrieving "All Mail " folder after deleting it in Thunderbird: HELP!
A few days ago, I deleted the "All Mail folder in my gmail account on an old laptop running on Windows 7. When I logged into the new Windows 10 laptop, opened Thunderbird and found that the "All Mail" folder was empty and subsequently, so were many of my other folders. I have no idea where to go from here and would appreciate any help to retrieve the contents of the "All Mail" folder and how to restore it's contents back to my (now) empty other folders. Thanks very much.

I doubt there is anything anyone can do to recover your mail. You did delete it after all.
Have you approached Google?
Funny that you should say that as you posted a solution 2 years ago to this very problem but I couldn't get anywhere with the old link

I'll try Google

The add-on will only work if the folder is there to undelete mail from. You said you deleted the folder.
On reflection though, it might work on the other machine which has the empty folder.
Thanks Matt. I give it a go in the morning. I didn't actually delete the folder on either laptop...

Not really important how it went away... what is important is having a folder to point the add-on at.
Hi Matt, When I click on the link, it gives a bad certificate error. I'm not terribly computer literate so what should I do with this? Thank you
Try this. It has been re-homed.
Thanks Zenos, After I dl the file and right click it, I don't get the option to retrieve deleted emails option....
That doesn't sound like you have installed it yet.

Hi Zenos, I get as far as seeing the add on in the add-on manager's list but the only 2 options are disable or remove : (
Addons enhance the feature set of Thunderbird. So go look at your menus for new items.
Open Local Folders. Create a new folder for your import and make sure it's selected. Then look at Tools in the menu and you'll see Import Export Tools in the menu drop-down.

I got it!! Thanks for all of your help
Recover deleted messages appears when you right-click on the "ALL MAIL" -folder. It will create a new folder under Local Folders.
