When MacBook Pro is started in Safe Mode, Mozilla Firefox resolution changes such that Firefox window becomes enormous
Hello, I suspect I might have hardware issues with my MacBook Pro running on OSX 10.10.5. I decided to work in Safe mode for a few days. Problems I have with it mainly show when I work with Firefox (weird graphics aritfacts when switching tabs). When I booted my laptop in a Safe Mode and then Started firefox, the Firefox Window was very big (bigger than my screen) and in this window, only a proportion of what should be displayed is indeed displayed. I can even access firexox preferences, because the window is too big and I can't scroll in it.
I attached a screen shot where all the windows are shown. You can see two Firefox windows, each of them showing only a fraction of what a whole window should contain.
Any ideas on what to do with it? I need these windows to be smaller.

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

From what I can see, the Firefox on the left is showing the full window. But the others don't. Notice the lack of the top bar with the close button.
I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.

Actually, both of the windows look weird. The one on top is a fragment of Mozilla start page, the one underneath it is a fragment of Firefox Settings page.

Does this only happen with web page content or is the user interface affected as well?
Try to set layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to 1.0 (default is -1) on the about:config page. If necessary adjust its value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) until icons or text looks right.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
Try to rename/remove the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.
