I want to adjust duration of the ‘New Mail’ alert in Thunderbird and find no way to do this

Thunderbird 45 on Mac. I think the newest TB iteration lets the new email notification hang too long on the screen. Can't find a place to adjust the duration. Anyone know how it might be done? Thanks.

'Thunderbird' > 'Preferences' > 'General' To the right of 'show an alert' - click on 'Customise' button a new small window appears. You can choose how long to show the new mail alert in seconds. click on OK

Thank you T-H. But more frustration, I'm afraid. There is no 'Customise' button to the right of 'show an alert' in this version (45.0, Mac). No setting available under 'Tools' either.

You don't see this? (This is on LInux and may differ in the detail.)

It's possible that Thunderbird delegates the handling of the notification to the native system; I've heard mention of "growl" on Macs.

Wish I did. Here's my window.

What happens under the "App Icon Options…" button?

Agree with Zenos - 'App icon Options' is in the same location as the 'Customise' button. Did it offer you the option to change the length of time the alert displays?

Hmm. Conundrum continues. Here's what shows under 'App icon Options'. No duration option.

Okay, almost there. File path is just a wee bit different but no matter. Integer set at 10000. Any suggestion on how to proceed? Thanks.

Ack. Set to 2000. Then 200. Damn thing won't budge. Maybe it's as Zenos says, some setting is floating around in the native system. Well, it's no deal breaker. Still sticking with TBird. Thanks for the help guys.
