What you do not say is what smtp outgoing server you are using. Each email address should have it's own designated outgoing server.

It sounds like you are trying to send from 'email address B', but using smtp server for another 'email address A', which does not allow any other email address.

Is it also possible you are not at home but actually on the college network?

Thunderbird did not send that message, it is from the server you are trying to use to send emails.
