On print preview "The selected printer could not be found" Corrected then back to a problem

Posted

I found the answer to this problem at this url https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1089454 Reset over 100 setting to default and today they all show their status as user set and the print preview doesn't work of course.

So, any ideas as to what's going on please? Thunderbird Version 38.7.0 is in use with Windows 7 x64 Pro Thanks

Well I have got it back in order by removing and reinstalling Thunderbird. I'd saved the profiles beforehand but the remove hadn't deleted them so the reinstall was more like a repair.

Doesn't matter it's currently working. I'll probably not find out the reason for the glitch unless it happens again.

Welcome,

A possible fix.

Go to the control panel / homegroup tab / get the setting at the top / tick the printer box sharing.

Have a good day. yetiputer.

Thanks for the response. Printer sharing is already selected in the Homegroup. I did a bit more looking around at the printer settings in Control Panel but couldn't find anything that might help.

another possibility found here...

  http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-enable-file-and-printer-sharing-windows-7-a.html
control panel / network and sharing centre tab / from top left menu / change advanced sharing setting / file and printer line / tick "turn on file and printer sharing"

or other firefox tutorial... https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-printing-problems-firefox

A question: Do you have the menu bar opened top of browser window ? If yes click file tab. Do you have "Print Preview" Is it working ok ?

I don't think it's a printer sharing problem, I've looked through all the above and the settings are fine.

Plus I have no problems printing or with print preview using other programs; Firefox, MS Office, Photoshop and many others the problem is just with print preview using Thunderbird and the changing of the Printer settings within the program.
