How can I get thunderbird to show me what passwords it is using for my e-mail accounts?
I am using Ubuntu 14.04 and Thunderbird, and i need to find a way of getting Thunderbird to show me what password it is using for each of my e-mail accounts - and how I can change those passwords without deleting the old account and setting up new ones.
I have some similar answers to similar issues, but those require that I go to "Tools" - "options" - and further from there, but I cannot find any "Options" menu anywhere in my version of Thunderbird. However, this shows me that this information must be possible to access somehow, also in my version.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes the layout of menus and commands in the Windows version of Thunderbird is different to the Linux version, I don't know why. I have Xubuntu 14.04 so I guess my version is the same as yours. Look under Edit > Preferences > Security > Passwords > Saved Passwords.

Thank you very much! Not much logic to that location of that menu - I would never have thought of that myself.... But whatever! I found what I needed. Much appreciated.
Things to know for next time before you tell someone they are useless like you did in the thread you decided to hijack. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences_in_Windows,_Linux,_and_Mac

Something you could have helped with instead of insisting it was still under Tools (and not Edit) even after you were told it was not on Windows and that perhaps the menus on Linux were not quite the same as Windows. ;)

The Locations of the Preferences/Options in Applications (like Firefox and Thunderbird for example) on Linux (Edit->Preferences) is often due to the Gnome HIG
Firefox on Linux did have it as Tools->Options for one Release (Firefox 0.8) by accident and reverted back to Edit->Preferences.

I seem to remember telling them to look for preferences once they finally gave some useful info about their operating system. Glad to see you are using your mod status to be a Richard Noggin. Classy.
Not as a mod but as somebody who was annoyed at how you handled that thread and then how you chose to reply here.
The way you were responding, even if you had known he was on Linux from beginning, I suspect you would have still insisted to look for Preferences under Tools as you did instead of Edit.
Nobody gives a crap what you suspect! How about providing some support instead of harassing the people that do?
There was no harassment here of anyone who offered support, except for the above reply.
Thank you, James, for restoring my faith in humanity. I appreciate the support, in more than one way.
