This morning Firefox would not recognize my Master Password. I've tried everthing, how do I get this feature working again?

When I went to use Firefox and input my Master Password for the first time today it wouldn't accept it. It just asks and asks, over and over. I have restarted Firefox in safe mode and reset it as well. I am not ready to lose all my passwords. Please advise.

If you can't get the manager to open . . . . .

Have you checked the caps lock?

Do you use any password add-ons?

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Do you get an error message when you enter the master password or does the password logins window stay empty?

It is possible that the key3.db file is corrupted.

You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a recent previous version of the logins.json and key3.db files available.

Make sure to keep a backup copy of the current logins.json and key3.db files.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Thank you for your input. My CAPS Lock is not on, nor is my Number Lock. I am entering my password correctly and I have my main passwords saved elsewhere in a safe place. So I know there is no error when I'm entering it. There are a few passwords that I have saved with Firefox that I would like to have access to.

Does the master password work to open the Password Manager?

Nothing has worked and still can't access my Saved Logins or sign into any sites with my Master Password or save any new ones. When this first happened I noticed that a script had stopped working after I got a Java notification update. Related? Not sure, but i am just going to uninstall everything Firefox and start over. This is driving me nuts.

Did you try to backup the current logins.json and key3.db and see if you can restore and older version of both these files?
