FireFox does not copy table cell background colours

I'm pretty sure I used to do this without any addons, I used to be able to open up my EMC SAN reports showing all the disks in the SAN in a 30x30 table, and was able to highlight the whole table, or parts of it, and paste it into Excel for my monthly reports. Each disk group has its own cell colours in FF to differentitate it from other disk groups, but now that I have FF 44, it only pastes the text and not the colours of the cells.

I installed the addon Table2Clipboard V1.5.3.1.1 which enables me to copy the cell colours, although I need to navigate a few menu items to do this, however I would like to know why it originally worked with no addons and just copy & paste.
