Hello,

Have been tearing my hair out for weeks now as I have been unable to UPLOAD any data either as E-Mail attachments or as things like .jpeg file uploads to photobucket. Incoming data is fine but there is virtually no outgoing data whatsoever. I have checked on another PC running firefox and windows 7 and it's exactly the same scenario. Both machines use different virus checkers (kaspersky on mine, AVG on the other PC). Uploads / outgoing data IS possible on both machines when using Internet Explorer.

There's no problems with internet connections on either computers. I have updated / rolled back / refreshed / re-installed / disabled and uninstalled all the useful add-ons in firefox and there is NO difference. I have the same problem with 2 different virus checkers, Kaspersky and AVG. Have checked everything with ISP's and have had technical support from the file hosting and e-mail websites I normally use. I have been round all the FAQ's, recommended fixes to no avail. The problem is definitely with FIREFOX and something has changed in the background in the last 3-4 weeks because it has always worked perfectly.

Please can someone help as I cannot find a phone number for mozilla to call and ask. I cannot tell you what version I have as I've just done a complete refresh 5 mins ago and all the menus have disappeared* All my software is up to date as there's constantly updates running.

I could add a screengrab of the type of upload error, but I can't get any data out so I can't add any attachments!

Thanks for any assistance, I am desperate to get this fixed as I am job hunting and not being able to send attachments or upload data is terrible.

Richard

hi richard, are you running "trusteer" software on your device by chance? it has been identified as a cause for many upload issues recently... see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1102907 for example.

I forgot to add that I use an inernet mail through my ISP (talktalk) rather than the likes of outlook. But it's the same on the other PC also which is connected through virgin media, the only common problem is with firefox.

Hi,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

Please let us know if the issue is present in Safe Mode or not, as this indicates that it is either an extension or theme causing the issue. See the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for more information.

Thanks for your suggestion. Have tried it and there is no difference. It has MASSIVELY sped up the browser though -like winding back to how it was maybe a year ago. I cannot upload to web hosting or send E-Mails with attachments. I have already been through the troubleshooting sections more than once, no difference with anything suggested.

I am still seeing 0.00MB/s outgoing on my network traffic window.

Thanks,

Richard

Have also completely removed firefox from my laptop and started again from scratch. Removed the profile folder etc. so it's a completely new start with a new download -not difference from before. Outgoing data starts at a couple of KB/s then just drops to 0.00 within a few seconds. Interestingly though I did manage to send a few test attachments earlier this morning using internet explorer, they will re-send (forward) again using firefox but new attachments won't go on a fresh test E-Mail. Am assuming the original test attachments can be forwarded because they're already uploaded to my E-Mail, something in firefox is blocking any new uploads / attachments.

...sorry, I meant to put KB/s before, not MB/s.

Hi Philipp, was just reading that elsewhere. Yes I am as it's recommended by my bank. I'll try uninstalling it in the next few mins and see if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

Richard

Thanks very much philipp!!!

Have just uninstalled rapport and everything back to normal. I can't count the hours of searching I've done over the past few weeks to fix this but I was 3h last night checking things with talktalk, I would never have thought it was a rapport problem. Thing is my bank recommends this and I'm not happy logging in without it. Is anyone working on a fix? Suppose I'll have to try IBM but for the moment I can E-Mail and upload again (I have updated an ebay listing now also). I'll just have to put my ad blockers back later as I've got a completely fresh browser now.

Thanks very much again.

Richard

yes, in this case i'd suggest getting in contact with ibm/trusteer rapport's support on this issue. usually they are very quick to respond and fix issues: https://www.trusteer.com/support/submit-ticket

I marked this question as solved based on your report that uninstalling Trusteer Rapport solved the problem with Firefox. (For others reading, you don't need to uninstall the software. Stopping (disabling) it also works as reported in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1102907 and other threads.)
