FredMcD, firefox had the correct version. I did everything else as you requested. By the way, I encountered several more crashes before completing everything you said.

Not just Firefox, but Opera as well. And I still haven't recovered my passwords.

You first need to verify if you still use the old default profile or that Firefox has created a new profile.

How long go the bookmark backups go back if you check that in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)?

If there are only recent backups then it looks that a new profile got created.

You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of the logins.json file available.

FredMcD, yes, I tried that already. Nothing was restored. I have no clue why everything got wiped out.

Did you check if there are multiple profiles?

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Go up one level to the Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles folder.

FredMC, one is 2014 and the other is 2016. Apologies for the late replies. College is kicking my ass.

Open the 2016 folder and use these files to restore your profile.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Warning ! ! Only Copy the files you are told. We will avoid anything that might be the cause of your problems. Here is the list of files;

cookies: Do not bother. Cookies will be created when you return to the web site. However, you will have to log in everywhere.

extensions(add-ons): it would be better to download them fresh. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ key3.db and logins.json: These are the Password files.

persdict.dat: custom dictionary – words you added to the dictionary

mimeTypes.rdf: What to do with what type of file.

places.sqlite: History and Bookmarks.

prefs.js: Your settings. Note, this may be contaminated.

cert8.db: Stores all your security certificate settings and any SSL certificates you have imported into Firefox. If removed, the file will be replaced. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Copy these files from the old to the new. You will get a message about the files already exist. Choose to over-write for each file.

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
