If this browser hijack is preventing you from accessing your operating system control panel, it sounds like it is more than just a simple browser hijack. It is strongly recommended that you run a scan for malware on your system.
Antivirus programs are unable to detect everything and may miss the infected files. The following free programs work alongside your current antivirus:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Personally, I have used and recommend AdwCleaner.
