Since about two days ago my firefox appearance is really messed up. I already tried to refresh it, but nothing changed. I added a screenshot for you to take a look on. Hope this can ber solved, otherwise I would be forced to use Edge (using Win 10 Pro x64). I hope its not coming to that.

Kind regards

Ok, I have no idea why, but the problem suddenly resolved itself. I made about 30 reboots in the past two day due to GPU BIOS flashing with no effect at all, but another reboot today simply made firefox look normal again.  :O

Further information: I never used any themes, so that couldnt really be the problem. I already read about the problem with hardware acceleration by googling before posting here, but I dont think that was/is the problem.

I attached the screenshot again anyway, hope it works this time... its a png and about 400 KB soi it should work... Maybe others have the same problem it it can be resolved permanently.

Try uploading the screenshot again.

See this support article. How do I create a screenshot of my problem? It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

I'm not sure I understand what is wrong in the screenshot.

Can you elaborate?

Do you mean the way the tabs look or that you are in Full Screen mode (press F11 to toggle)

Its the tabs but more importantly the typing bar (don't know if thats the right term since I'm german) and the backwards button (which isnt visible at all). Its really awkward typing something since you couldnt see what you're actually typing.

Maybe there are some more things I didn't notice, but I know I'm in fullscreen (as always)... ;)

Does it help to switch to normal mode?

Did you try Safe Mode?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

I wrote above, the problem just disappeared, no idea how or why...

Waht I tried is turning off hardware acceleration, but its on again and not causing the problem as it seems. I hadn't even installed a theme when the problem occured. I didn'T try safe mode or anything else.
