Is there a way to enable text substitution in Firefox 42.0 on OS X 10.11?

Since FF doesn't support Cocoa so text substitution (like typing omy you get On my Way) doesn't work.

Any way around this? Add-ons? about: config etc?

The closest one I could find was Fox Replace, searching for "Text substitution" gives some cool add ons to replace things in the theme of xkcd syntax, but that is not helpful here.

Life hacker recommends a few third party apps: http://lifehacker.com/tag/text-substitution that might be a good place to start.
