Why doesn't Adobe Flash work on Firefox?

more options

I have tried all of Firefox's fixes - upgrading Firefox, upgrading Flash, disabling plugins and nothing works. Please can anyone tell me how to fix this?

BTW: Why can't Mozilla address this on a personal basis? I sent crash reports many times but have yet to hear from Mozilla.

Mozilla rarely contacts users about their crash reports. We can help.

Some of your crash reports weren’t sent to the Mozilla Servers.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

BTW I had to use IE to process this email because of the constant crash errors on Firefox.

Flash Player doesn't work with or without Kaspersky running. I have tried everything suggested in the troubleshooting guide. Flash Player still will not work. From what I have read in these posts, Firefox has had problems with Adobe Flash Player for a while. Is there an alternative? My games won't play right on IE so I will have to resort to Google Chrome unless Mozilla can find a fix for this.

it is actually the plugin-container.exe causing the problem not any plugin. The plugins are NPAPI based which are TWO DECADES old technology that Firefox seems to be refusing to abandon in favor of PPAPI based plugins. The plugin-container.exe that runs the plugins ( not just flash that crashes seen silverlight at work ).

The problem is somewhat allieviated by deleting certain prefetch files. not for everyone, but for some it works great.

Try something unorthodox. I Use to have this issue and since i stumbled across a fix that worked for me I have been sharing this, but seems to fall upon deaf ears in here. I have not suffered a crash of this try after implementing this for years. This is a Firefox issue only! It has nothing to do with Adobe Flash as other plugins will cause the same behavior such as silverlight and or java in Firefox.

Click on my name under my profile there is s sourceforge link, click it. Go to browse all files. You will see a folder called Firefox utility. there is a BAT file in there called del_prefetch.cmd. get it. You can look at the contents with notepad. There is also an explanation as well listed on that page. Close all instances of Firefox , right click on that file and run as administrator. It will just run in a loop until you stop it. IF this solution works for you and I hope it does you can use the exe version it does EXACTLY the same thing but sits in the system try and runs silently.

Hopefully that will help. I make zero promises but hopefully it may!

Best regards

My thanks to FredMcD and Carm for attempting to help me resolve this problem. I really like that Firefox is non profit, but, I am very disappointed that it has been over a week since I first asked for help and no one a Mozilla has seen fit to lower themselves to help an unimportant user with a problem with their software.

As much as I hate Google I am going to have to download Chrome.

Bye Mozilla.
