I am asking this on behalf of my father. He updated Firefox on his older Mac and he reports that he is now unable to forward incoming mail. How do I help him fix this problem. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts on my question. I learned that the problem was not with Firefox but rather that Hotmail merged with or became Outlook and the interface in email significantly changed in appearance. As a result the Forward email button looks a lot different and is hidden until you find it a drop down box. It is initially confusing until you look more carefully.

Hi,

Please elaborate on where he's forwarding mail. He can also try clearing cache and cookies; many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

You asked for more information about my dad's problem. He told me that the Forward button is there but he gets a message that there is no content to forward. He just did a Firefox update yesterday and this created the problem. He is trying to forward email to me and to others but it won't let him. A blank page appears when he is tried to forward the email.

Did you try the steps as outlined previously to clear cache and cookies to see if that helps?

I have not yet tried it as I am 20 miles from his computer. Trying to help him out by phone.

Please note that when I get a response to one of my responses, the reply button does not appear on the page unless I come here which was furnished to me by a special link provided by a volunteer support person. This is very frustrating. I think there is a problem with your Support Forum Response page. I tried to do a screen shot of what I am seeing so I can show you but it not upload when I Choose File.

Hi Drew4613 , Andrew is right here where it might be best to first try to clear the cache with the instructions above the next time you are on the phone with your dad.

On a side note, the link to reply will only be there if you are logged into the support site.

If there are also add ons that may be installed with Firefox, please also consider Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode
