Something on my system keeps changing my Home Page. I went through all the options and cannot determine what it is. Any help would be very nice.

I set Home Page to www.yahoo.com, a few seconds later it changes to http://searchinterneat-a.akamaihd.net/"a string of letters". I ran McAfee and did not detect any Virus. I ran Malbytes and did not detect any malware. Any help will be much appreciated.

Chosen solution

If you use extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Note that your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.

You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.
