Unable to block pop ups on Firefox on Windows 7
Switched to Firefox after trouble with pop up Ads on Chrome. Now having the same problem with Firefox. Have run various anti malware programs & installed Ad block plus extension to no avail. I can see sites loading up when I open a crossword solver site. Have used this site for some time in the past without problems. Any assistance would be appreciated- cheers Bruce

hello, this sound like an issue with adware that is active on your system. please perform all these steps:
- reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
- afterwards go to the firefox menu ≡ > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
- finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

Note that some extensions may hide themselves and will only show in Safe Mode.
What kind of pop-ups do you get?
Thanks for replies, have reset Firefox & run various security tools & system would appear to be clear of malware. Logged into problem site, a crossword solver, incognito mode and adware sites where logging on top of this. Have stopped using this site & will advise its administrators of problem- cheers Bruce
