Hello, In earlier versions it was possible to tell FF to wipe all temp files at shuting down. Now this option is no more available. Is there a simple way to clean the Firefox temp files when shutting down Firefox? Thanks

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. Under History, select Use Custom Settings. Turn on Clear history when Firefox closes. To it's far right, press Settings.

Thank you for the reply but this is a completely different thing ;)

Clearing the history does not delete the temporary files.

This is about clearing the disk cache via "Clear history when Firefox closes", so you at last need to place a checkmark on the Cache item.

  • Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
  • Clearing Cookies will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you want to keep.

Sorry, it does NOT clean all the TEMP files created by Firefox. My settings are like on the attached pic. Despite this, it always remain a folder "firefox_temp_files" in the TEMP files directory of the computer. I have to delete this folder manually.

The Windows TEMP files in the %temp% folder are not part of the Firefox cache and you can't remove them automatically.

Firefox stores files in the TEMP folder that are passed to an external program if you select an application in the "Open with" dialog.

There is this pref browser.helperApps.deleteTempFileOnExit that may apply to this, but I don't know if it works.

browser.helperApps.deleteTempFileOnExit is already turned ON...

Yes sure, I know a few ways to delete the Temp files but my question was to know if it is possible to do it when Firefox shuts down ;)

OK anyway I see now that it isn't possible, so ... Case closed, thank you for all replies :)
