Unable to clear cached information on Firefox 40
I am using version 40.0 with SHA512: 84228c5e70b0ca4b3a8444007691a06cac1ecb6d81995d11a225e6e29dac6799267ebfe60488d0934e32567599c6a4ef0f849dfddbbfd3abdf0b0282599f10c3 If your view youtube (https://youtu.be/BKgzITHwU_k) It's called "Firefox 40.0 for the Mac OS attack" you will see I disabled add-ons, cleared histroy and cache and a refresh Firefox (which I beilive returns Firefox back to default) the Email account for AOl still was maintained in Firefox.
I believe this is a hack designed to prevent clearing of cached information. It may be related to a process called "imagaent" which is related to a facetime application which i don't use. Does anyone have a explanation as to why the AOL email was maintained ?

1)Firefox refresh function should take t to an almost default condition but did not
2) Their should be a uninstall app to completely remove Firefox and any configurations.

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.
Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Locate the cookies.sqlite file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

Clearly this is a malware hack in an attempt to maintain information from the browser. Theonly way I was able to correct it is removing all files including some hidden files in the profile directory and reinstalling.
This is why I recommend that firefox have an uninstall application to completely remove the application for reinstalling.

One data store that "survives" clearing recent history, clearing history at shutdown, and a refresh (unless the refresh fails), are saved passwords. Did you ever save your AOL login in Firefox? You can check, well, if you still had them you could check, here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences > Security > "Saved Passwords"
Some sites also may use Flash Local Storage Objects (LSOs or "super cookies") to persist data, even between browsers in some cases. I don't know whether AOL uses them.
I never saved the sign in information from the email account. I do use it for other sites but never for the AOL email site demonstrated in the youtube video "https://youtu.be/BKgzITHwU_k". I never use flash and all add-ons where removed and still the account persisted in Firefox. I believe this is a hack from the Mac OS Yosemite some how corrupted Firefox information. I don't think its Firefox 40. because after reloading the same version it does not maintain account information.

I think when you use Refresh, you should see a link to this article that explains what is carried over: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings.
If you want a nearly clean settings folder (Firefox will discover system-installed plugins and extensions), you can create a new profile: Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles. However, that is not exposed in Firefox's user interface because it is considered more of a troubleshooting or special case process.

Has this changed? Previously when you ran Firefox's uninstaller it asked whether you wanted to remove all your personal data and did delete your entire settings folder. Well, that's on Windows. Mac has its own way of uninstalling, so I can't speak to what happens when you "trash" the Firefox application on Mac.
A refresht copies the cookies among other data to the new profile, so it is possible that you carry over issues where cookies or other recovered data is involved if you create a new profile via a reset and not by using the Profile Manager.
When you refresh/reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported. The current profile folder will be moved to an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
It is possible to recover data from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
I have sent feedback to https:/inout.mozilla.org/feedback Firefox 40.0 for the Mac OS Yosemite does not provide a option to erase all information. An App to uninstall allfeatures of Firefox should correct this issue.
