Why does Firefox crash every time I try to open a second tab in WIndows 10 and how do I fix this?

Bought new HP laptop running Windows 8.1 - able to use FIrefox just fine as my default browser. Upgraded to WIndows 10 - I have installed/uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox several times, but it continues to crash every time I try to open a second tab.
