Thunderbird freezes after sleep under Windows 7, with TB 38.2.
If I put my laptop to sleep by closing the lid, when I restart, Thunderbird is frozen and I need to kill the session and start a new one.
I noticed some users have this problem under Windows 10 as well. This week I had installed Windows 10, but thought better of it and reverted to Windows 7, so there could be some connection. But possibly I had this TB problem even before the bout with Windows 10. My sense is that the problem started right after I installed release 38.2 of Thunderbird in Windows 7.
Turning off my add-ons and extensions doesn's seem to make any difference, also I compacted my mailboxes and purged the inbox...to no avail.
Chosen solution
I found a fix, which is simply to replace Version 38.2. I went for 31.8 as that was the last general "non beta" release. It snaps back into action with no problem after my computer sleeps.

While I was at it, i turned off automatic updating for Thunderbird, as I don't want to have to wrestle with this kind of problem anytime soon again!

Modified
This is potentially bug 1196662. A patch has recently landed and one user reports success for getting messages automatically after sleep. So perhaps the patch will also help the freezing problem reported here.
For those of you who have good backups and are comfortable trying an UNTESTED developement build, please try the win32 .exe or .zip from https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/nightly/latest-comm-central/ and please report your success or failure.
