Want to be able to restore tabs sometimes but be able to permanently close them as well

I believe I have this working on my other computer but don't know how I set it up or if I can. What I'd like is the ability to press the X in the corner and close my tabs, and then have them restored when I open firefox, but also be able to individually close each tab and have firefox bring me to the homepage upon opening again.

What add-ons do you have on that other computer, that aren't on the one you are referring to?
