When I try to open a folder I get this message "Windows has stopped working"

I have firefox They suggested I go to About config and find the plugins.load_appdir_plugins and click on it and change to true. When I search for it it is not listed

this is not a mozilla problem, it is a microsoft problem, have you contacted them?
