Firefox locks up, Firefox Not Responding, Blue circle spins.

I've done everything on the Troubleshooting page including reinstalling.

No problem using another browser. Help! I prefer Firefox!

Thank you in advance for your help.

What was Firefox doing at the time?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Thanks for your reply. I've been away from my PC for a few days, so just getting back to this now.

In Safe Mode, it seems to run smoothly. Now what? When I return to standard Firefox it continues.

In standrd mode, it hold up, blue circle spins, runs exceptionally slowly. Then I restart it and it's good for about 10-15 minutes, then same thing. Seems to be worse when on facebook, but these problems happen on gmail as well as other pages.

Update: While in Safe Mode, the message appears: Firefox Not Responding, and what follows; locks up, blue circle spins. However, after 5or 6 seconds it self corrected.
