keep getting : authentication failed when i try to open mail
even when I put in a new password I keep getting the same message : connection to server failed..... authentication failed ???

Password is the same password you use to access webmail. You can only update/change your password in webmail, then you can change the stored pasword in Thunderbird.
Suggest you post your settings so the forum can see the current info that is used.
In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information click on 'copy text to clipboard' Paste info into this question i forum. You can edit/remove all the info on fonts and printers, but nothing else.
