How can I delete my 'History Older than 6 Months'? It won't go away.

more options

When I click on History there's nothing recent at all. And it only shows a whole ton of stuff that's "Older than 6 months". I can't delete them individually and I've tried refreshing Firefox. I also can't see anything recent. I just need to get rid of all the stuff that's there.

Thanks.

cor-el - THANK YOU! This has worked. Although I did move the folders to the trash. Should I dig them out and put them anywhere else?? Will Firefox know what to do now I've moved them?

Thank you for your question, if possible can you show a screenshot of this? I am not sure if it is a folder or a feature that shows that history.

If you are talking about the History section of the Library (when you select Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) This is can be deleted by right clicking on "Older than 6 months" and selecting "Delete"

I hope this helps.

Once you have fixed the problem, you can use this;

Expire history by days {web link} Allows to expire history older than a fixed amount of days.

Thanks for your reply. The deleting thing doesn't work. That was the first thing I tried. Please see screen shot. It might make more sense.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

I looked into this although I have to admit it's way over my head! I tried to open the places.sqlite file but I can't find the right app to launch it. I really don't know where to start with this, even though it makes a lot of sense... I downloaded the first add-on you suggested. I'm not sure what to do next.

See the screenshot I've attached. These bookmarks are from years ago!

Did you try the Places Maintenance extension?

You can try to move all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to a different location (folder) to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
