how can I uninstall safesearch.ch

Posted

Evidently, I downloaded something that also attached this "safesearch.ch" to my computer. I've tried my service provider and they suggested contacting Mozilla after they tried taken off this irritating search pop-up. It always opens up after I click on my Mozilla icon. It always appears first, not yours? I can't seem to be able to uninstall this, can you provide some help...please!

Hi

You can follow the tips here: http://www.malwareremovalguides.info/safesearch-net-safesearch-toolbar-removal-instructions/

and please read them carefully and BEFORE you start you might wanna back-up any important "stuff" (passwords etc) in Firefox in case something goes wrong.

Good Luck

It’s very sad, but many of the software down-loaders / installers will trick you into installing not only their program, but other programs as well. You have heard of the fine print in shady contracts, right? Well, some installers you need to look at the itsy bitsy teeny weeny fine print. You are thinking you are giving the installer permission to install the program you want by using the recommended option. But if you use the Manual Option Instead, you discover all kinds of stuff that you do not even know what it is or what it does. From now on, everyone needs to Use The Manual Option to put a stop to this.

In hindsight I should have used more discretion when I installed the "free" download. Your comments were helpful, but unfortunately, I still want to totally remove the "safesearch.ch" ...any more useful recommendations would be of more help, but thanks!

Hi, this seems to be a difficult nut to crack! So try working through Remove SafeSearch toolbar (Uninstall Guide) by Malware Tips. You may need to run several removal programs, because not all will detect all malware. Also pay close attention to 'Step 2.'

You may also need to run SearchReset when 'Safesearch' has been eradicated.

FredMcD, dead right. Manual every time!
