I am able to use the fullscreen option but it doesn't actually go fullscreen. It just fills up the window i am in. i still see my tabs open and menu bar and it is really annoying. i was wondering how to fix this. I would upload a screenshot but apparently there is a size limit for images.

Chosen solution

Try to rename (or delete) the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

The only add-on i use is adblock plus. i fixed the problem by resetting firefox to defaults. But other than that i don't know what would have caused it.
