Hi for the last 2 weeks firefox has persistenly crashed on me generating crash reports. The culprit seems to be a file "rookscom.dll" which other threads are reporting as being a Trusteer raport issue. I've checked and Trusteer is up to date. would appreciate any suggestions thanks

rookscom.dll = Rapport

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it and select Submit.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

If you can't get Firefox to open, you will have to do this the hard way. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter Open the file browser / explorer on your computer. Note: You may have to enable Show Hidden Folders / Files. Enter this in the address bar;

Windows: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win 7/Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win XP/2000: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted

Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted Linux: /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted

Copy the last 5-7 Recent File Names in the folder. Post the information in the reply box below.

It has been reported on the NoScript forums that Firefox 38 + NoScript + Rapport causes crashes. Assuming the one you need least often is Rapport, I think that would be the one to disable under the circumstances. (It's hard to imagine life without NoScript!)

Thanks for your suggestions I wouldn't want to uninstall Noscript, but I'm equally loathed to uninstall Trusteer Rapport unless I absolutely have to, in which case could you suggest an alternative "end-point, man-in-the-middle" protection software/keylog blocker

Please load each of those crash reports yourself, as it can take up to 5 minutes for each report to be found and sent to the server that is used to display the crash reports. Since we already know the cause, but you are unwilling to make a decision - NoScript OR Trusteer Rapport - it would be nice if you spent your time getting those reports "moved" to the server where we can read them - and probably tell you the same thing about Rapport being the cause of those crashes, too.
