I have asked this question on numerous occasions in shops and to friends and am told it is possible by clicking on the web address however it would seem that Firefox does not allow this to be done as I have so far been unable to do this. I used to be able to do this on Xp but now find it impossible. I use this facility to enable me to go to a web page immediately instead of having to go via search or bookmark. I am having the same trouble with windows 8 on a different machine. Any help would be appreciated.

There are several way to do it.

  • 1 Hold down the left mouse on the address bar icon, then move the icon to your desktop, and let go.
  • 2 deskCut {web link}
    This extension adds desktop shortcut creation to the context-menu for Windows, Linux and Mac.
